At the beginning of 2025, several cargo airlines have expanded their air freight services between Europe and Asia, offering new transport solutions for international shipments. Maersk Air Cargo has significantly increased its capacity by launching Boeing 767 freighter flights six times a week between Billund, Denmark, and Zhengzhou, China. This new service complements the airline’s existing operations, including a daily route to Hangzhou and a chartered service between Liege and Hangzhou. Additionally, Maersk has resumed air cargo flights connecting Zhengzhou with Greenville, South Carolina, further strengthening its global logistics network.
Other key players are also expanding their services. MSC Air Cargo, the cargo airline of Mediterranean Shipping Co., has introduced direct flights from Amsterdam to Seoul, operated by Atlas Air. These flights integrate with MSC’s trucking network, providing access to shippers across Europe. Additionally, Maastricht Airport has confirmed that an MSC-branded freighter operated by Atlas Air has started flights from Maastricht to Xiamen, China, with a stop in Kazakhstan. These flights are part of MSC’s growing air cargo network, which extends to destinations like Mexico City and Los Angeles.
Middle Eastern carriers are also reinforcing their operations. Emirates SkyCargo has added a dedicated weekly freighter service from Copenhagen to Dubai, capitalizing on the increasing demand for Scandinavian exports, particularly pharmaceuticals. Meanwhile, DB Schenker and other logistics firms are leveraging Etihad Airways’ capacity to facilitate cargo shipments from China to Europe.
