Vital EV, a leader in electric vehicle charging solutions, is spearheading the electrification of the UK’s trucking industry. They’ve unveiled their groundbreaking MegaWatt Charging System (MCS) to tackle the lack of charging infrastructure in the heavy goods vehicle sector. While electric cars and vans have seen increased adoption, electric trucks are still scarce, accounting for less than 1% of new truck registrations. Vital EV’s Kempower MCS addresses this challenge with ultra-rapid DC charging, delivering 1.2 MegaWatts (1,200kW) and adding 372 miles of range in just 30 minutes.
The MCS uses Kempower’s hub-and-spoke architecture, accommodating up to 24 50kW power modules. This innovation aims to expedite the transition to electric trucks, supporting the UK’s net-zero emissions strategy and the Zero Emission Road Freight program, which allocates £200 million by 2030 to advance electric truck charging networks. Vital EV also offers comprehensive support and maintenance to ensure efficient charging for electric trucks, marking a significant step toward a sustainable transport future.
